Feedback Loop — Letherette

In our new series ‘Feedback Loop’ we talk to musicians from across the globe about their record bag and their first experiences using the nuraphone.

UK duo Letherette comprising of Andy Harber and Richard Roberts, have been elegantly combining soul samples, house beats and hip-hop attitude since their debut self-titled album was released in 2013. With releases on Ninja Tune, Alexander Nut's Ho Tep label and have recently dropped their latest EP, titled ‘EP5’ on their imprint WULF, are a dance-floor favourite who have leant productions to rappers the likes of Irish MC Rejjie Snow and Stones Throw's Pyramid Vritra, while making unique cuts of transportive and always-evolving electronica.

For me it was the detail and how close I felt to the sound that really helped producing. Everything was very outlined and easily placed.
Andy Harber

The childhood friends developed an indomitable ear for the nuances of crafting beats and spinning tracks out of samples learnt from making years of ‘avant-garde, noisy electro-acoustic music’ with a prolific collection of synths and drum machines. Working together since college the duo's rich and layered music requires deft manipulation of musical tech. For this intricate production process, one half of the duo Andy, says the nuraphone can help with: “For me it was the detail and how close I felt to the sound that really helped producing. Everything was very outlined and easily placed.”
